RICHMOND, Va. A youth baseball all-star game played tonight in Glen Allen will be broadcast nationally on television. The CBS Sports Network will air the 16U/17U Triple Crown all-star game, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at RF&P Park. Admission is free.
More than 1,500 high school-aged baseball players will compete in Henrico County in the Triple Crown championships, a showcase event designed to put players in front of college coaches that began Friday and runs through Saturday.
An expected 5,000 visitors will come to the area by the event's completion, adding $3.2 million to the local economy, the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates.
The 88 showcase teams participating come from 18 states and Canada. Numerous local players and teams will compete in the event, which is held at RF&P Park, Dorey Park, Tuckahoe Park and other locations.
Six players from the Richmond area will play in tonight's all-star game, including four members of the Richmond Braves: Tyler Johnson, Brett Langhorne, Haiden Lamb and Michael Billups.
Jamison Trower of the South Chester Express and Andrew Jones of the Richmond Rush also will take part.
