The 99-77 St. Louis Cardinals jumped out to a 5-0 lead in Game Three en route to a resounding 16-7 win over the 104-71 Texas Rangers to move ahead in the World Series under the bright lights in Arlington.

Allen Craig homered in the first run of the game during the top of the first for St. Louis who struck again during the top of the fourth with David Freese's RBI double triggering a four-run inning. The Cardinals scored two more on Jon Jay's fielder's choice while Ryan Theriot knocked in Yadier Molina to make it 5-0 visitors. Texas tallied their first three runs during the bottom of the fourth on two longballs by Michael Young and Nelson Cruz.

Freese and Molina knocked in the next three runs for St. Louis who led 8-3 heading to the bottom of the fifth where the Rangers added three more runs to once again pull within two. Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli drove in three Texas base runners, but the Cardinals were back at it during the top of the sixth with Albert Pujols going yard along with Molina's sacrifice fly elevating St. Louis' lead to 12-6. Pujols' two-run jack an inning later made it 14-6 bad guys as the Rangers returned to the scoreboard during the seventh with Napoli's sac fly.
