Japan Beats Tennessee 12-2 for 8th Little League World Series Title

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Fast friends in the Little League dorms, the boys from Japan and Tennessee played one last game Sunday to decide which team would be crowned World Series champions.
Noriatsu Osaka's big bat helped send the team from Tokyo home with the title banner.
Osaka's third home run of the game put an exclamation point on Japan's 12-2 victory over Tennessee in five innings in the Little League World Series championship game Sunday.

MLB news 12BET update 12/23

The Giants’ thumb-twiddling act is starting to wear on their fans

It was just over a year ago that we looked at Brian Sabean's vacation of an offseason and wondered if the San Francisco Giants could really afford to stand so pat after winning a World Series championship.
Halfway through this hot stove season, it's looking like we could swap a few names and pretty much run the same post.
The biggest difference, of course, would be that Giants fans are no longer drunk from the post-title celebration and are instead getting a bit ornery.

While the fans' outlook in 2010 was optimistic about getting full seasons from Buster Posey and Freddy Sanchez, as well as a breakout year from Brandon Belt, the feeling for 2011 is a lot different (even if they can still get those three things) .
Meaningful reinforcements for the lineup are needed, yet they don't seem to be on their way Cwik should be prepared to get his angry on, because Beltran is said to be close to signing somewhere and the Giants aren't one of the five rumored landing spots.

Not that Beltran would be the ultimate answer for the Giants' offense in 2012. Truth be told, I'm not sure there's anyone still out there — short of giving Prince Fielder the Bay Bridge for the next eight or nine years or his life — that would prove to be the magical solution. If the Giants offense is to improve in 2012,  it will likely come as a result of Posey, Sanchez and Belt providing what they couldn't — or in the case of Belt, were prevented from — in 2011.
Still, you can understand why Giants fans like Wendy Thurm over at Fangraphs are so frustrated. Melky Cabrera and Angel Pagan are not enough to get anyone excited and they can't even take solace in a contract extension for Tim Lincecum or Matt Cain as a quasi-consolation prize. While the defending division champs get better in Arizona with the addition of Trevor Cahill and the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrate the emergence of Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw as a power core for the next decade, Giants fans are left to experience déjà vu all over again. - http://sports.yahoo.com

Sportsbetting Japanese Baseball-Central League Giants vs Stars 12BET 10/6 5PM GMT+8

 Yomiuri Giants

Founded Dec. 26, 1934
Home: Tokyo Dome, Tokyo
2009 Slogan: SHOW THE SPIRIT
Japanese baseball's oldest and most successful franchise, the Kyojin (Giants) are currently celebrating their 75th anniversary as Japan's first professional team. Historically the Giants are Japanese baseball royalty, owning 41 league titles and 20 Japan Series titles. Often referred to as "Japan's team" or the Japanese version of the New York Yankees, the Giants won nine consecutive Japan Series titles from 1965 to 1973, with the game's two most popular players of all-time, Shigeo Nagashima and Sadaharu Oh each in his prime.

As expected the Kyojin have also had a who's who list of managers including Nagashima, Oh and current skipper Hara, who led Japan to a win in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
Hara's 2009 Giants have won the last two Central League pennants and, at the midway point of the this season, look primed for a third straight triumph.
As always, the Giants have stars at nearly every position starting with catcher Shinnosuke Abe and young superstar shortstop Hayato Sakamoto. The talent doesn't stop there on a roster that also includes reigning CL MVP Ramirez and 2007 winner Michihiro Ogasawara, who was also the 2006 Pacific League MVP.- byhttp://www.japanvisitor.com

Asian Handicap MLB (Major League Baseball) (Play Off) 12BET 10/4 5AM GMT+8

The Rangers were able to outlast the Rays in five games in this round last season. The outcome is going to be different this time around.. Whatever it is the Rays just have that magic going for them right now. It also helps that Tampa has terrific pitching. In fact, the Rays best pitcher might be their worst at the moment. This series has five-game dogfight written all over it. Shields was one of the best pitchers in baseball this season and should be on full rest in a potential deciding game. Both teams proved last year that home-field advantage means nothing with the road team winning every game. Like the Rangers weren't last year, the Rays won't be intimidated with having to win a Game 5 on the road.
Now Tampa faces a Rangers team that won an American League pennant a year ago and ended its own postseason run in a thrilling five-game series that saw the road team win every game. This season Texas had seemingly been on cruise control before the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim made things a bit interesting in September. But in the end the Rangers easily claimed their second straight division title, finished with the second-best record in the AL and set a franchise record with 96 wins.- by http://www.sacbee.com

Asian Handicap Japanese Baseball-Central LeagueYokohama Bay Stars[Kentaro Takasaki] Tokyo Yakult Swallows[Hitoshi Yamamoto] 12BET 12PM GMT+8

It's been a decade since the Tokyo Yakult Swallows' last pennant and Japan Series title, but the leadership and experience of veteran Shinya Miyamoto is as precious as anything else for the Central League-leading ballclub.Yet Miyamoto humbly rejects the idea that he's leading the young team.Asked what he tries to do to guide the Swallows, whose last championship came in 2001, the 40-year-old infielder quickly responded, saying, "Nothing particularly.""I never thought I am leading the team, and I've never tried to," Miyamoto said before Thursday's game against the Hanshin Tigers at Jingu Stadium. "I'm just doing my part."
Miyamoto is the last remaining Swallows player from the aforementioned championship team. That year, under manager Tsutomu Wakamatsu, he played 125 games as a regular shortstop. Despite what he says and although it is often not visible, Miyamoto's influence on the team is huge. With less than 20 games remaining in the regular season and the second-place Chunichi Dragons trying to shrink the deficit and win the pennant, Tokyo Yakult has been forced to play every game with a monkey on its back.- By KAZ NAGATSUKA

Asian Handicap Japanese Baseball-Central League Yomiuri Giants[Tetsuya Utsumi] vs Hiroshima Toyo Carp[Kan Otake] 10/1 1PM

A fan fell out of the stands and had to be stretchered off. Four players were hit with pitches, including one who had to be carried off, and one fan got more than she bargained for when a foul ball came hurtling toward her from above. And that was all before things really got exciting.Yomiuri Giants captain Shinnosuke Abe hit a tie-breaking two-run double in the eighth inning and Kenji Yano added the team's first grand slam of the year later in the frame as Yomiuri battered two Hiroshima Carp relievers in a 9-3 win on Friday at Tokyo Dome.
"Our hitters really came through in the eighth," Giants manager Tatsunori Hara said. "I hope we can have more innings like this in our remaining games."

The win pulled the Giants to within three games of the second-place Chunichi Dragons in the race for home-field advantage during the first stage of the Central League Climax Series which begins later this month.
Despite the lopsided result, Yomiuri had been held in check before exploding in a seven-run eighth.
With the score tied 2-2, Daisuke Fujimura led off the inning with a walk and went to second on a single from Hisayoshi Chono. Abe followed with his tie-breaking hit."I wondered if the manager would give me the bunt sign, but he told me to go ahead and hit," Abe said.Having put his captain in the cleanup spot, Hara gave Abe a chance to show what he could do."I told him to hit as he usually does, and that's what he did," Hara said.
Alex Ramirez then singled and Yoshinobu Takahashi drew a walk to load the bases. Yano drove them all in with one swing of the bat.
